School of General Education

The School of General Education, previously known as the Institute of Basic Courses when it was founded in June, 2000, is dedicated to students’ ability in foreign languages, computer skill and physical education at Anhui Medical University. With 10 years of development, this institute has matured into a well-staffed, efficiently-managed and innovationally-oriented teaching and researching center with abundant resources. To meet our university’s new challenges of nurturing all-around talents and offering quality education for medical majors, it was formally renamed as the School of General Education on December 23rd, 2010, with Mr. Dong Guang-feng as its Dean.

Faculty

Staffed with 94 members, the school boasts a qualified faculty of over 76 full-time teachers and researchers, including 18 full professors and associate professors. In the recent years, it has been proactive in recruiting youthful strengths and optimizing the echelon of its faculty. Now a strong team of young intellects has been built up in the school —1 doctorate degree holder and 53 master’s degree recipients.

Teaching and Researching Facilities and Resources

The classrooms and laboratories of SGE now cover 2800 square meters. Distributed in 5 computer labs, 6 multi-media language labs and 2 self-learning centers, over 1000 computers and other facilities are available to students on campus. An average of 5800 students makes use of these resources each year, spending accumulatively 400,000 hours in our labs and centers.
