About Anhui Medical University
As a key provincial university, Anhui Medical University is a medical institution with the longest history in Anhui province. Since its foundation in 1926, Anhui Medical University has accumulated a profound historical background with the university motto “Study hard and try to practise, bring up excellent doctors” and university ethos “seeking for earnest, proficiency and creativity”. We have been devoting ourselves to the development of a teaching-research type medical university with high standards, and carrying out the fine tradition of making contribution to human health.
At present, there are 18,000 undergraduates on two campuses. There are 25 teaching institutions including School of International Education. Different undergraduate programs and courses are being offered in 32 special fields of study. The university has been authorized to establish 3 post-doctorial scientific research programs, to grant doctorial degrees in 27 specialities, and to award master’s degrees in 74 specialities. Anhui Medical University now has 5 directly affiliated hospitals and 5 non-directly affiliated hospitals. In recent 5 years, the university has undertaken 220 research programs from research programs “863”, “973” and Natural Science Foundation of China. In recent years, Anhui Medical University has been far ahead of other provincial universities in terms of the total amount of grants from NSFC (Natural Science Foundation of China). Meanwhile, Anhui Medical University is the only provincial university winning the honor of National top 10 scientific and technological development.
Anhui Medical University attaches great importance to international education. The university provides double rooms equipped with bathroom, shower, air-conditioner, TV sets, fridge and internet. International students in Anhui Medical University also have access to Muslim canteen, public kitchen and laundry room. Four classrooms were renovated for international education. Excellent services for international students, which have got recognition from them, reflect the international administrative standards of the university. Up to now, there are 160 international students from more than 40 countries all round the world.

According to Nature Publishing Index issued by Nature Publishing Group, Anhui Medical University ranks 75 in Asian-Pacific region through 2008 to 2012 and ranks 18 in China for the 17 articles published on Nature.
Anhui Medical University ranks 104 in Asian-Pacific region in 2012 and ranks 32 in China for the 7 articles published on Nature.
